लिब्रे ऑफिस एक मुक्त और ओपन-सोर्स ऑफिस सॉफ्टवेयर सूट है। इसमें Writer (शब्द प्रोसेसिंग), Calc (स्प्रेडशीट), Impress (प्रेजेंटेशन), Draw, Base और Math शामिल हैं। यह OpenDocument Format (ODF) का समर्थन करता है और Microsoft Office फाइलों के साथ संगत है।

इतिहास (History): लिब्रे ऑफिस की शुरुआत StarOffice से हुई, जिसे 1985 में जर्मनी में Marco Börries ने विकसित किया था। 1999 में Sun Microsystems ने इसे खरीदा और 2000 में OpenOffice.org के रूप में ओपन-सोर्स किया। 2010 में Oracle द्वारा Sun को खरीदने के बाद कम्युनिटी ने फोर्क किया और The Document Foundation बनाया। पहला लिब्रे ऑफिस संस्करण जनवरी 2011 में जारी हुआ (वर्जन 3.3)। आज यह दुनिया भर में 200 मिलियन से अधिक यूजर्स द्वारा इस्तेमाल किया जाता है।

LibreOffice is a free and open-source office software suite. It includes Writer (word processing), Calc (spreadsheet), Impress (presentation), Draw, Base, and Math. It supports OpenDocument Format (ODF) and is compatible with Microsoft Office files.

History: The beginning of LibreOffice started with StarOffice, which was developed in 1985 in Germany by Marco Börries. In 1999, Sun Microsystems bought it and in 2000, it was open-sourced as OpenOffice.org. In 2010, after Oracle bought Sun, the community forked it and created The Document Foundation. The first LibreOffice version was released in January 2011 (version 3.3). Today, it is used by more than 200 million users worldwide.
