Introduction to Internet (इंटरनेट का परिचय)

Internet विश्व का सबसे बड़ा Global Network (वैश्विक नेटवर्क) है, जो पूरी दुनिया में फैले लाखों-करोड़ों Computers (कंप्यूटर), Servers (सर्वर), Smartphones (स्मार्टफोन), Tablets (टैबलेट) तथा अन्य डिजिटल उपकरणों (Devices) को आपस में जोड़ता है। इंटरनेट को हिंदी में "अंतरजाल" कहा जाता है।

अर्थात् इंटरनेट अनेक छोटे-बड़े नेटवर्कों का एक विशाल नेटवर्क है, इसलिए इसे "Network of Networks (नेटवर्कों का नेटवर्क)" भी कहा जाता है।

इंटरनेट एक Wide Area Network (WAN) की तरह कार्य करता है, जिसके माध्यम से दुनिया के किसी भी स्थान से सूचना (Information), डेटा (Data), चित्र (Images), ऑडियो (Audio), वीडियो (Video) तथा अन्य डिजिटल सामग्री का आदान-प्रदान किया जा सकता है।

इंटरनेट में डेटा के आदान-प्रदान के लिए TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) का उपयोग किया जाता है।

• Network = जुड़े हुए कंप्यूटरों का समूह (Group of Connected Computers)

इंटरनेट Client-Server Architecture (क्लाइंट-सर्वर आर्किटेक्चर) पर कार्य करता है।

इंटरनेट का विकास कई वर्षों के अनुसंधान का परिणाम है।

• 1969 – अमेरिका के रक्षा विभाग (U.S. Department of Defense) ने ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) की शुरुआत की। इसे इंटरनेट की शुरुआत माना जाता है।
• 1971 – Ray Tomlinson ने पहली E-mail भेजी।
• 1974 – Vint Cerf और Bob Kahn ने TCP/IP Protocol विकसित किया।
• 1 जनवरी 1983 – TCP/IP को इंटरनेट का मानक (Standard) प्रोटोकॉल बनाया गया। इसी कारण 1 जनवरी 1983 को आधुनिक इंटरनेट (Modern Internet) की शुरुआत माना जाता है।
• 1989 – Tim Berners-Lee ने World Wide Web (WWW) का प्रस्ताव दिया।
• 1991 – WWW आम जनता के लिए उपलब्ध हुआ।
• 15 अगस्त 1995 – भारत में Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited द्वारा पहली बार सार्वजनिक इंटरनेट सेवा शुरू की गई।

What is the Internet?

The Internet is the world's largest Global Network, which connects millions and billions of Computers, Servers, Smartphones, Tablets, and other digital devices spread across the entire world. The internet is called "अंतरजाल" (Antarjaal) in Hindi.

In other words, the internet is a vast network of many small and large networks, which is why it is also called a "Network of Networks."

The internet functions like a Wide Area Network (WAN), through which information, data, images, audio, video, and other digital content can be exchanged from any location in the world.

The internet uses TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) for the exchange of data.

Network = A group of connected computers

The internet works on a Client-Server Architecture.

The development of the internet is the result of many years of research.

• 1969 – The U.S. Department of Defense started ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network). This is considered the beginning of the internet.

• 1971 – Ray Tomlinson sent the first E-mail.

• 1974 – Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn developed the TCP/IP Protocol.

• 1 January 1983 – TCP/IP was made the standard protocol of the internet. For this reason, January 1, 1983, is considered the beginning of the modern internet.

• 1989 – Tim Berners-Lee proposed the World Wide Web (WWW).

• 1991 – The WWW became available to the general public.

• 15 August 1995 – The first public internet service was launched in India by Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL).
