ई-मेल (E-Mail) का पूरा नाम Electronic Mail है। यह Internet के माध्यम से electronic messages (इलेक्ट्रॉनिक संदेश) भेजने और प्राप्त करने की एक service है।
ई-मेल की सहायता से हम text, documents, images, audio, video और अन्य files को एक व्यक्ति से दूसरे व्यक्ति तक भेज सकते हैं।

History of E-Mail :-
Ray Tomlinson ने 1971 में networked computers के बीच electronic mail भेजने की महत्वपूर्ण प्रणाली विकसित की।
उन्होंने E-Mail address में @ (at sign) का उपयोग किया ताकि user name और computer/host name को अलग किया जा सके।
उन्होंने इसे एक test message के रूप में भेजा था। इस message में क्या लिखा था, इसका exact text Ray Tomlinson को बाद में याद नहीं था, लेकिन उन्होंने बताया कि यह लगभग “QWERTYUIOP” जैसे random keyboard characters का sequence था।

Ray Tomlinson developed an important system in 1971 that made it possible to send electronic mail between networked computers.
He introduced the use of the @ (at sign) in e-mail addresses to separate the user name from the computer/host name.
He sent it as a test message. Ray Tomlinson did not remember the exact text of the message later, but he said that it was probably a sequence of random keyboard characters, such as “QWERTYUIOP.”
